The gallery opened in 1991 and exhibited work by Fabian Marcaccio, Carl Ostendarp, Alexis Rockman, Kenny Goldsmith and Emil Lukas. In 1994 the gallery moved to Mercer Street and continued to exhibit the aforementioned artists and presented work by Jennifer Steinkamp, Philip Akkerman, Monique Prieto, Robert Melee, Lee Boroson, Jonathan Seliger, Jonathan Lasker, and Chris Finley. In 2001 Karin Bravin, John Lee and Jay Gorney formed Gorney Bravin and Lee and mounted shows of James Siena, Paul Noble, Gillian Wearing, Justine Kurland, Allen Ruppersberg, Catherine Opie, Neil Jenney, Fabian Marcaccio, Philip Akkerman, James Welling, and Barbara Bloom.BravinLee programs opened in 2006 to represent artists and collaborate with colleagues and institutions on a project-by-project basis. BravinLee represents Philip Akkerman, Katie Armstrong, Douglas Florian, Iva Gueorguieva, Fabian Marcaccio, Rebecca Jo Morales, Charles Ritchie, Boo Ritson, and Amy Wilson. The gallery also shows one of kind books, produces rug editions and curates public art installations. In 2006, the gallery organized Studio in The Park, an outdoor installation in Riverside Park and logistical assistance for Illumination, on the grounds of The Rothko Chapel. Since 2009 the gallery has worked with The Downtown Alliance of Manhattan as an adjunct curator producing public art projects for construction remediation. In the fall of 2011, the gallery will plan an exhibit on the grounds of Lehman College in the Bronx. Over the past 20 years, BravinLee has participated in Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, The Armory Show, Pulse Miami, Pulse New York, Pulse London, Seven Miami, and NEXT.".
