Continuing his education, he received an AM degree from Harvard University in 1902, an ET from the University of Paris in 1903, and a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1904. In 1904, he was appointed a professor of Romance languages and literature at Adelphi College in Brooklyn, New York. In 1909, he joined the University of Alberta as a Professor of modern languages. From 1914 to 1936, he was the first dean of the Faculty of Arts. From 1936 to 1941, he was the president of the University of Alberta.He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.He died in Edmonton, Alberta in 1945.".
