In 1924 the newly married Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth) boarded her at Marseilles for their voyage to East Africa. On 4 June, 1942 she rescued survivors from SS Iron Crown (23x15px Australia) torpedoed by I-27 (22x20px Imperial Japanese Navy) in Bass Strait off Cape Howe 44 miles from Gabo Island, New South wales, Australia (38°17′S 149°44′E).".
