He was drafted by the Pirates in the 5th round of the secondary phase of the 1983 amateur draft. Sauveur played his first professional season with their Class A (Short Season) Watertown Pirates in 1983, and his last with Oakland and their Triple-A Sacramento River Cats in 2000. Sauveur currently serves as pitching coach for the Pawtucket Red Sox.Richard Daniel Sauveur is currently the pitching coach of Águilas Cibaeñas in the Dominican Professional Baseball League which is one of the best and tough Baseball league in Latin America. He resides in Buford, Ga during the offseason with his wife Argentina, and his 4 sons Tristan, Jacob, JJ and Josh.".
