He joined No. 139 Squadron RAF as a captain, and piloted Bristol F.2 Fighters. He was assigned to reconnaissance patrols, but still ended up in dogfights. He destroyed four more enemy fighters, scoring double wins on 8 August and 13 September 1918.".
