After earning his BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Birmingham in 1970, he gained his MA from the University of British Columbia in Canada. He has written several computing and photography books. Schofield edited and contributed to a number of photography publications in the 1980s and 1980s and is a former editor of The Royal Photographic Society's Photographic Journal.At one time he held an unofficial world record for the most unread emails (at 30,422) but his record has since been broken.".
