He then attended Cornell University, just to Elmira's north, where he was graduated in 1896. At Cornell he was captain of the football team immediately succeeding the famed "Pop" Warner. He was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Society at Cornell.He became a lawyer and corporate director from 1898 to 1910. In 1911, he became owner of the Atlas Steel Casting Company of Buffalo, New York.".
