He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 17th round of the 1971 amateur draft.As a rookie, Pocoroba got attention during spring training in 1975 by throwing out 11 straight would-be base stealers. [1] He made his major-league baseball debut on April 25, 1975, as a defensive replacement in the Braves' 5–3 loss to the San Diego Padres at San Diego.His best season was in 1977 when he achieved career-highs with 123 games, a batting average of .290, 8 home runs, 24 doubles, and 44 runs batted in. In 1978, he made the National League All-Star team, finishing the season with a .242 batting average, six home runs and 34 RBI in 92 games. A torn rotator cuff injury slowed his career [2] and he played his last game on April 20, 1984 at the age of 30.".
