- Q22236224 abstract "Elliott Eastwick is a House and deep house DJ and music producer. He is one of the founders of Manchester-based, Paper Recordings. He held a residency at famous Manchester club, The Haçienda for around a year before it closed. He is known for his eclectic DJ sets. In 1997 he was booted off the decks at a Jockey Slut party after he played two Gabba records and Nick Berry's "Every Loser Wins".Eastwick founded Paper Recordings in 1996 - tapping into his trust-fund made available from the millions that the Eastwick family made from their sale of the best-selling 'lads' magazine Front. Eastwick also edited Front Magazine for 2 years. The magazine sold for £6 million in 1994. Staffordshire born Eastwick's first success as a music mogul came through the million selling 'Crazy Penis' debut album on his label Paper Recordings. 'Crazy Penis' left the label in anger after Eastwick used the £5 million profits from their album to fund his Big Band solo album 'Straight Outta Congleton'. Recorded over 6 months at L.A.'s Capitol Studios (and featuring a cameo from Eastwick's long-time mentor and surrogate father Steve Penk) the release focuses on Eastwick's bipolar condition and saw him bring in Elvis Presley's long-time backing band 'The Jordanaires' on every track. The album, however, was ultimately a flop, although his cover of 'Under The Boardwalk' reached no. 8 in the Armenian iTunes Alternative Charts, the video was heavily criticised for being an almost exact copy of Bruce Willis's re-recording of the '60s hit.".
