He was six feet tall and weighed 185 pounds during the 1913 season. He also competed on the Wisconsin track team in the shot put and hammer throw events.Keeler later served as the head football coach at the Wisconsin State Teachers College—later renamed the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse—from 1917 to 1929. In 13 years as the head football coach, Keeler's teams won three conference championships and compiled a record of 45 wins, 24 losses, and 15 ties.".
