Later, in 1990, he received a doctors diploma in economics. Throughout his life he reeived numerous awards such as the Anania award in 1999, and a gold medal from Serzh Sargsyan, the president of Armenia.. In April 2014, 65-year-old Hrant Vardanyan died due to heart disease. He is buried in the Yerevan Pantheon.".
