In December of 2008, the Commission accredited the institution at a more advanced degree level (II) to award baccalaureate degrees. The institution successfully went through its reaffirmation visit in September 2011. Florida National College officially changed its name to Florida National University March 24, 2012, after receiving approval by its accrediting agency to offer programs at a more advanced degree level.".
