In 1977, Peckham married fellow Olympian, Judy Canty, the 1978 Commonwealth Games champion at 800 metres. He was ten times Australian athletics champion.After retirement, he become a physical education coach at The Peninsula School and then Geelong Grammar School in Melbourne Victoria, and specialized specifically in high jumping.".
