The event in Namibia was the first UCI international by a Zimbabwe Mountain Bike team, prior to that Zimbabwe had only ever competed in the road and cyclo cross discipline up till that point.In 2009, Zimbabwe was represented at the African Continental Championships across all three of the disciplines namely BMX, MTB and Road.Cycling Zimbabwe is a member of the Confederation Africaine de Cyclisme.".
