Hoyt in New York City. He was a presidential elector in 1872, he cast his vote for Ulysses S. Grant. Hoyt was a trustee of a fund of $250,000. that had was raised by private subscription in 1881 for the benefit of Grant and his family, to insure the General an income for the remainder of his life.He served as Chairman of Wesleyan College.He was a nominee for Governor of Connecticut.Oliver Hoyt died at his home in Stamford in 1887.".
