As Deputy Secretary at Prime Minister’s Secretariat (1989-1992). And, again at Foreign Office, as the Director General South Asia & SAARC (2003-2007). He also served as the Government’s Spokesman on Foreign Affairs (2005).His other assignments include Deputy High Commissioner, Acting High Commissioner, First Consul, Acting Ambassador to Jeddah (1983-1985) London (1985-1988) Washington (1995-1999) New Delhi (1999-2003) Australia (2007-2009)He has also served as Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union.
