- Wesley_Wark abstract "Wesley K. Wark (born 1952) is an associate professor in the History department at the University of Toronto, and a faculty member of the Munk School of Global Affairs. He is one of the leading specialists in intelligence studies.Wark earned a B.A. from Carleton University in 1975, an M.A. from Cambridge University in 1977 and a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 1984.He was President of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies (CASIS) 1998-2000 and 2004-2006. He organized the CASIS 2000 conference in Ottawa on "The Future of Intelligence".He served for two terms on the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on National Security (2005, 2010 renamed) and served from 2006 until 2010 on the Canada Border Services Agency Advisory Committee. He is also teaching as visiting research professor at Graduate Schoolof Public and International Affairs of University of Ottawa.Professor Wark is a frequent media commentator on national security and intelligence issues on contemporary security issues. Other scholarly interests include the popular culture of espionage in the contemporary history, the study of terrorism and counter-terrorism and modern and contemporary international relations. He is also a member of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.He served as guest editor and contributor to a recent special issue of the International Journal devoted to “Security in an Age of Terrorism”. He also give interviews and comments to foreign media. So after the NSA affair in a talk to the Berlin newspaper „Der Tagesspiegel“ he recommended Germany to join the intelligence alliance UKUSA, this would be „logical“.His first book is "The Ultimate Enemy: British Intelligence and Nazi Germany" (1985). Other major publications include "Twenty-First Century Intelligence" and a book on Canada and the War on Terror. He is directing a major research project for the Institute for Research on Public Policy on “Security and Democracy”.".
