- Middleton_Park,_Oxfordshire abstract "Middleton Park is a Grade I listed country mansion in the village of Middleton Stoney, in Oxfordshire, England.The house was designed by the English architect Edwin Lutyens and his son Robert; it was built between 1935 and 1938. The house was his last great country house: it was designed and built for George Child Villiers, 9th Earl of Jersey, on the site of a mid-18th century house built for William Villiers, 3rd Earl of Jersey. During the 1970s the house was converted into apartments.The lodges and gardens are Grade II listed.According to the British Listed Buildings website:" Coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings; plain-tile roof with rubble stacks. Double-depth plan. Georgian style. 2 storeys plus attics. 11- by 7-window house has 3 symmetrical fronts, all with recessed centres (of 5 and 3 bays), containing very tall shuttered sashes, and has hipped dormered roofs rising above a stone cornice; north front has a low central linking section containing the pedimented main entrance and flanking doorways; south front has a central doorcase of the "Delhi" order. Interior: principal original interiors survive throughout except for the drawing room, which has been reduced in size, and Lady Jersey's onyx bathroom which has been slightly altered and the fittings removed. The last great country house to be built in England."".
