The estimated of 525,450 population live in this area.63% of these population are extremely poor who can not afford basic calorie food requirement round the year and have no ability to buy or afford quality health services from commercial health sources. Incidences of sickness, children mortality and morbidity are very high. Community people are largely daily wage laborer, low paid wage earner and odd job workers. Illiteracy, ignorance and unawareness on health and hygiene largely exist among 35% of total population who are also ethnic minority people and hardcore poor.Human Development Program (HDP) first started as small health care awareness and hygiene education unit in the year 2000.Since then primary healthcare motivation, water & sanitation motivation, nutrition motivation have been place. The small health promotional service unit was build in preventive and curative healthcare center in the year 2003 with support of Anesvad, PARCUSE and Marist Mission Centre as “Father Tonino Memorial Hospital” in the year 2004 (Late Rev.Fr.Tonino was dedicated himself for the poor health services in this area and he died 28/12/97).Hospital is registered with the Government Health Department in 2008.From 2004 to 2008 total 199,928 children, 37,045 women, 13,442 males & 5,465 adolescent girl patients received health services from the hospital.We are proud and happy to our Director of Human Resources Development Md. Rabiul Islam(Monju) also has taken the responsibility as a Hospital Director to develop more effective initiatives for ensuring humanitarian services.
