She was married to the journalist Ernst Molden and gave birth to two sons, the author Otto Molden (1918–2002), and the newspaper correspondent and editor, Fritz Molden (1924–2014). Preradović died in Vienna and is buried at the Zentralfriedhof.She composed the lyrics for the national anthem of Austria in 1947, "Land der Berge, Land am Strome".".
