Animal product processing and technology, are major subjects at the DTIPOA. Epidemiology, infectious, parasitic and mycotic diseases, preventive veterinary medicine, efluent management and environmental impact analysis are domains at the DMVP. Pathology, toxicology, veterinary medicine, reproduction, surgery and welfare are provided at the DCCV. A new undergraduate course on Aquaculture inaugurated in 2009 is offered, and involves production, processing and health of aquatic organisms for food, conservation or leisure. MSc and PhD degrees in Animal Science and Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medical Residency, and Professional MSc are available in 19 areas of knowledge. Two experimental farms and the Veterinary Hospital are available.The five-year Veterinary Medicine course takes 120 students per year and over 95% of undergraduate students complete the course. The five-year Aquaculture course takes 50 students each year, and will form the first class in 2013. Most faculty at teaching are full-time, permanent and have PhD degrees (more than 90%). About 1/3 of undergraduate students participate in research activities in 112 laboratories and produce around 250 academic research abstracts per year. More than 140 scientific papers are produced per year by faculty members.".
