- Q7789069 abstract "Thomas Wortley Drury (12 September 1847 – 12 February 1926) was an Anglican bishop who later served as Master of St Catharine's College, Cambridge.Drury was born on the Isle of Man the son of the Rev. William Drury, Vicar of Braddan. Educated at King William's College and Christ's College, Cambridge. Ordained deacon in 1871, by Bishop Horatio Powys of Sodor and Man, his first post was as a curate at Braddan. Priested at St Thomas', Douglas, IOM in 1872, he served as Chaplain to the Insane Asylum 1872 to 1874, after which he was Mathematical Master of King William's College (his old school). Following this he was rector of Holy Trinity Church, Chesterfield from 1876 to 1882, then Principal of the Church Missionary College in Islington from 1882 to 1899. Drury was an Examining Chaplain to Bishop Ryle of Liverpool from 1892 onwards. Between 1899 to 1907 he was Principal of Ridley Hall, Cambridge when he was ordained to the episcopate as the Bishop of Sodor and Man, a post he held for four years. In 1911 he was translated to become the Bishop of Ripon. A Sub-Prelate of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, he died at the Master’s Lodge at St Catharine's.".
