He was appointed Headmaster of Merchant Taylors’ in 1927 then Winchester eight years later. Ordained Deacon in 1939 and Priest in 1940 he was Rector of St. Mary's Church, Southampton and then Wiccamical Prebendary at Chichester Cathedral. Elevated to the See of Peterborough in 1949, he held this post until his death on 27 January 1956.".
