He became the chairman of the Conservancy Association in 1973 and participated in the Anti-Night Plane Campaign in Hong Kong in early 1970s.Mr. Robert Rayne was born in Kenya. He studied Greek and Latin classics at Oxford University, earning an M.A. degree. He served as a bomber pilot with the Royal Air Force during World War II, before becoming a prisoner of war in Germany. Beginning in 1950, he took an active part in establishing and developing the University of Keele, where he served as a lecturer in classics. In 1964, he and his wife and daughter moved to Hong Kong from England to become Vice-President of Chung Chi College, a position left vacant by the retirement of Dr. Leslie G. Kilborn in 1963. He worked with the college president, Dr. C. T. Yung. In 1975, he was promoted to president. He retired in 1976 and moved back to Oxfordshire. He was buried there.".
