He is a seven time consecutive (1998-2005) New Zealand Figure Skating National Champion.Cockerill attended Otago Boys High School, one of New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious boys’ secondary schools and boasts alumni such as Sir Keith Park, Sir Jack Marshall, Sir Russell Coutts and Richie McCaw.After completing secondary school, Cockerill went on to focus on his figure skating career training in Auckland, Sydney and Moscow. Cockerill represented New Zealand in a number of international competitions including three world championships. He is the first, and to this day the only New Zealand figure skater to complete all triple jumps as well as triple triple combinations.After retiring from sport in 2005, Cockerill completed an economics degree at Auckland University of Technology and moved to London to pursue a career in finance. There Cockerill began his career with Barclays Bank PLC and for 3 years worked in the corporate banking division in Barclays head office in Canary Wharf.In 2010 Cockerill moved to Moscow to work for Barclays Russia. He still works and lives in Moscow.".
