Sagar Island was selected in West Bengal and the second being the Ramayapatnam in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.The Ramayapatnam port will be developed in 10,000 acres of land with Port,ship building and breaking units and other allied units in the area.Thereis also proposal waiting for approval by the central cabinet for sanctioning of a National Maufacturing and Investment Zone in the Ramayapatnam area to start industrial growth and development.The Ramayapatnam is located 30 km from the city Ongole which is also a district headquarters. It is estimated that in the coming 5–10 years the Prakasam district is going to witness tremendous growth in areas of industrialisation, infrastructure,exports of Granite, Cotton, Tobacco, Salt, Aqua, Iron ore, etc.".
