- Q6982779 abstract "Nawab of Kalabagh (Urdu: نواب کالا باغ ) was a courtesy title of the feudatory lord of Kalabagh in Mianwali District of north western Punjab, Pakistan. It did not mark the title-holder either as a ruler of a princely state or as an autonomous or semi-autonomous ruler, but as the hereditary chief of the Awan tribe, settled on a minor Jagir estate. The actual or real title of the Awan chiefs was in fact 'Malik'.The title was discontinued after the demise of Malik Ameer Muhammad Khan Langur (Langaur) who was the last so-called Nawab of Kalabagh.During the British Raj Kalabagh was not made a princely state by the British. It was a jagir that had been ruled by the Nawabs since the time of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni. His eldest son worked in Pakistan Air Force as Vice Chief of Air Staff till 1998. Now his grandson Malik Sherjeel Tufail Awan is head of the Awans. Two of his sons were killed in a family dispute. They own more than 10 thousand acres of land".
