- Q621385 abstract "6546 Kaye, provisional designation 1987 DY4, is a carbonaceous asteroid from the outer region of the asteroid belt, about 24 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 24 February 1987, by Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos at the South Bohemian Kleť Observatory in the Czech Republic. The dark C-type asteroid orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.9–3.6 AU once every 5 years and 9 months (2,115 days). Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.11 and is tilted by 14 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. Two Photometric light-curve observations at the Palmoar Transient Factory in August 2012 gave it a rotation period of 7001100059000000000♠10.0059±0.0569 hours with an amplitude in brightness of 0.32 in magnitude, while the Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link assumes an albedo of 0.06, a typical value for asteroids with a carbonaceous surface composition. The minor planet was named in memory of David Daniel Kominski (1913–1987), known as Danny Kaye, actor and comedian on stage and screen. His trademark screen role was the mild mannered bumbler who triumphs in the end, as in The Court Jester (1956). The minor planet's name was suggested by G. V. Williams, who made the identifications involving this object.".
