- Q6178816 abstract "Jennifer Sey (born February 23, 1969) is an American writer, producer and former gymnast. She began competing in the sport of gymnastics at the age of six and went on to become 1986 National Gymnastics Champion and seven-time national team member. She competed at the 1985 World Gymanstics Championships and suffered a broken leg after missing a release move on the uneven bars. As a result, rules were changed to allow coaches to spot their gymnasts during release moves. After a string of nagging ankle injuries and bouts with bulimia, she retired from the sport. She later went on to graduate from Stanford University. Sey was named one of the "Top 40 Marketers under 40" by Advertising Age in 2006 for her work at Levi Strauss & Co. She has also written and produced two short films. She currently lives with her two sons, from a previous marriage, in San Francisco, and has given birth to a baby with her boyfriend, in 2014.In 2008, she published Chalked Up: Inside Elite Gymnastics' Merciless Coaching, Overzealous Parents, Eating Disorders, and Elusive Olympic Dreams, a book about her experiences as a top-tier gymnast. The book, which was met with some controversy, details her career as an elite gymnast, including her experience training at the Parkettes National Gymnastics Training Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.".
