He is the recipient of the 2001 Poet Laureate Award from the University of California and a founding member of the now defunct poetry movement, the New Brutalism. Meetze's poetry has been published in three chapbooks, numerous journals and two anthologies.His first full-length collection, I Have Designed This For You, was published by Editions Assemblage in 2007, and his second collection, Dayglo, was selected by Terrance Hayes as the winner of the 2010 Sawtooth Poetry Prize from Ahsahta Press. His chapbooks are Serenades (Cy Press, 2003), Instrument (Sea.Lamb.Press., 2004), and It's Overhead (Fashionably Pressed, 2007). He currently works as a Lecturer in the Creative Writing Program at California State University, San Marcos. Meetze is co-editor, with Simon Pettet, of Other Flowers: Uncollected Poems by James Schuyler (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2010). He also fronts the shoegaze band, Dreamtiger, whose EP Glisten was released in 2008. Their sound has been compared to Slowdive, Cocteau Twins and Lush.In 2002, Meetze founded the small press Tougher Disguises, which has published experimental poets such as Peter Gizzi, Clark Coolidge, and K. Silem Mohammad.".
