Argetsinger has a B.A. in theatre from Brigham Young University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University. He has been on the faculty of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a sub-college of the Rochester Institute of Technology, since 1975. Argetsing has written two scholarly volumes on Ludvig Holberg and many other articles. His play Equality of Rights: The First Women's Rights Convention was presented at the Women's Rights National Historic Park on the sesquicentennial of the 1848 Seneca Convention. He also wrote the current version of Trail of the Lonesome Pine, which is produced at Tolliver Theatre.As a director, Argetsinger was the first director of Utah! at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre in St. George, Utah. He also served as director of the Hill Cumorah Pageant from 1990 until 1997. Argetsinger had previously served starting in 1987 as a counselor in the presidency of the Hill Cumorah Pageant and had long held various LDS callings in the Rochester Area. He has also written multiple articles on the history of the Hill Cumorah Pageant, the first written no later than 1977.Gerald's wife, Gail Argetsinger, is a costume designer.".
