During his reign, the city of Chersonesus Taurica was under his direct control. Cotys II is mentioned in the writings of the Roman Historian Arrian and was a contemporary to the rule of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Cotys II married an unnamed woman. From this marriage he had a son called Rhoemetalces who succeeded in Cotys II in 132. Cotys II had a descendant who bore his name and ruled the Bosporan Kingdom in the 3rd century.".
