- Q22121196 abstract "Peter Schiefke MP (born April 13, 1979) is a Canadian environmentalist and Liberal politician, who was elected to represent the riding of Vaudreuil—Soulanges in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2015 federal election. On December 2, 2015, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister for Youth affairs.Following the divorce of his parents, his mother moved out of Hudson, Quebec where his earliest memories are, in a search for work which meant frequent moves around the Montreal region during his youth and he would graduate from Rosemount High School. He has one brother. Schiefke was a member of the French-Canadian boy band Inmotion in the early 2000s. While a member, the group enjoyed some success on the Quebec pop charts, including a number-one hit "Sauve-Moi" described as "a gooey love ballad reminiscent of something 'N Sync or the Backstreet Boys." He has attributed his desire to enter politics to his perception of a decline in the Canadian social system. Following the end of his musical career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science at Concordia University, followed by a Master of Science in renewable resources at McGill University.Schiefke spent four years in northern Uganda working on humanitarian relief ventures, an experience he claims made him more aware of the effects of climate change on poor communities. Upon returning to Canada, he co-founded Youth Action Canada, a not-for-profit organization aimed at getting young people more involved in fighting climate change. He later became involved with Al Gore's Climate Reality Project, serving as the national director of the Canadian division from 2009 until 2015. He remains a member of the organization's board.".
