Finding himself in ill health during the legislative session of 1820, he travelled to visit his brother, Col. John Williams, in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he died.Williams' brother Lewis Williams was also a congressman from North Carolina. His brother John Williams was a U.S. Senator from Tennessee.".
