Linneus, Missouri, Linn, Missouri, West Linn, Oregon, and Linnton, Oregon were also named after the ex-senator. Linn was the brother-in-law of James Hugh Relfe, half brother of Henry Dodge and uncle of his son Augustus C. Dodge. He was to support his nephew William Pope McArthur in his efforts to get Naval appointments as McArthur was to become the first surveyor the Pacific Coast.Linn is interred at Ste. Genevieve Memorial Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.".
