However, he did not release his first album until 1976's Joy By Surprise, which was recorded by Buddy King and featured members of Koinonia as guests. He was then voted "Best New Artist" in a poll by CCM in 1976. He released two albums on Myrrh Records soon after. In the 1990s he signed with Integrity Music as a songwriter. Ayala was involved with Keith Green's Last Days Ministries, and performed at memorial concerts for Green after Green's death.".
