From 1865 to 1870, Bunn was clerk for the Council of Assiniboia and the Quarterly Court. In 1868, he was named to the Council. Bunn served as secretary of state in Riel's provisional government. In 1871, he was called to the Manitoba bar. He was named clerk for the first General Quarterly Court for Manitoba in 1871.His former residence has been declared a provincial heritage site.".
