Flowering occurs between August and December and is followed by fruits which are woody capsules.Beaufortia bracteosa was first formally described in 1904 by Ludwig Diels in Fragmenta Phytographiae Australiae occidentalis. The specific epithet (bracteosa) is from Latin meaning "having many (or large) bracts.Beaufortia bracteosa occurs in the Avon Wheatbelt, Coolgardie, Esperance Plains, Geraldton Sandplains, Jarrah Forest, Mallee and Swan Coastal Plain biogeographic regions. It grows in gravelly sand on plains and slopes and is an important component of kwongan vegetation.It is classified as "not threatened" by the Western Australian government Department of Parks and Wildlife.".
