It orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.0–2.4 AU once every 3 years and 3 months (1,178 days). Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.09 and is tilted by 3 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. It has a relatively long rotation period of 24 hours. The geometric albedo of S-type asteroid is assumed to be about 0.24.Named in honor of the internationally renowned American pathologist and former director of the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center and president of USCAP, Edward A. Gall. The minor planet was named on the occasion of his retirement to commemorate his career and his discovery of the Gall's granule, a feature of lymphocytes.".
