Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.26 and is tilted by 16 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. It has a well-determined rotation period of 5.0 hours. The S-type asteroid has an albedo in the range of 0.17–0.27, according to several surveys carried out by the IRAS, Akari, WISE and NEOWISE missions.It is named after the former municipality of Punkaharju, a well-known and beautiful isthmus region in southeastern Finland (also see Karelian Isthmus).".
