The newscast switched to Filipino on August 21, 1999 making as the first Filipino-language weekend newscast on the network after The World Tonight ended on ABS-CBN and The Weekend News made its final English broadcast on August 15, 1999 just before switching to Filipino due to low ratings on English late-night newscasts and The World Tonight eventually moved to ABS-CBN News Channel two months later. It was relaunched as ABS-CBN Weekend News on March 17, 2001 as part of the network's major programming changes. The newscast ended on August 26, 2007 to make way for TV Patrol Sabado/Linggo (now TV Patrol Weekend), which was anchored by Ces Orena-Drilon and Henry Omaga-Diaz.".
