Mazici studied at the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts (formerly known as Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts) from 1975 to 1981, majoring in painting. From 1985 to 1989, she studied at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, where she specialized in graphic arts. Mazici further complemented her studies as a fellow at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1989 to 1990.Mazici began her career working with the graphic arts. Today her work also includes paintings and installations. Mazici’s works have been exhibited in Finland and around the world in the United States, Japan, France, Ireland and Turkey. Her artwork is also featured in the collections of the Finnish National Gallery, the Helsinki City Art Museum and the Pori Art Museum. In Turkey, Mazici’s work is displayed in several collections, including the Galeri Nev in Istanbul.Melek Mazici is a two-time recipient (2000, 2010) of the five-year Finnish State Grant for Artists.".
