From 1840, he lived in Baden-Baden with his wife Johanna Karoline Mathilde Bohlen (1800-1882). Their daughter Matilde Halbach died at the age of 24; she was nevertheless a great-great-grandmother of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. Their son Gustav von Bohlen und Halbach {1831-1890} and grandson Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach {1870-1890} also had a career in the diplomatic service.".
