He then worked as a projectionist and a newsreel cameraman until 1914 when he became a full-time cinematographer. Later he became known for the epic look he lent to Cecil B. DeMille film productions. Milner was a founding member of the American Society of Cinematographers and president of the ASC from 1937 to 1939.".
