- Jo_Harman abstract "Jo Harman is a British singer, songwriter.Born in London, Harman grew up in the Devon village of Lustleigh, before moving back to London to study at Middlesex University for a BAPA ( performing arts )After travelling to India, following the death of her father, she attended Brighton Institute of Modern Music in Brighton.Originally a featured singer with 'Soul Reality', a Collective of London/Brighton based session players, her manager Mark Ede encouraged her to form her own band. She was asked to sing on an album written by Pete Smith and Boe Larson. Pete Smith and Boe Larson recorded the whole album in Denmark but she was dropped from the project and replaced by Danish x factor winner Anna Faroe who went on to achieve chart success .In 2011 she released 'Live At Hideaway' whilst she worked toward making a studio album. This live record together with some live performances allegedly led to her being signed to Bepop agency In the Netherlands. Several gigs in Europe and in the UK including festivals at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, and the Isle of Wight Festival followed .Her second album Dirt On My Tongue was released in 2013.In 2014, her band mate organist Steve Watts was nominated for a British Blues Award.Her performance at Bluesfest in the Royal Albert Hall Foyer was recorded by the BBC and released as a live album.Her recently recorded third album recorded in Nashville financed by her Government award has unfortunately been shelved and will not be released .".
