- Jhumlawang_Village abstract "झुम्लावाङ्ग गाउँJhumlawang village is a home of about 850 inhabitants from 6 major ethnic groups of Nepal- Magar, Newar, Gurung, Thakuri, Chhetri, and Dalits. Although there is not enough written history about the village and its people, but our family roots, and generation to generation passed information tells us that our ancestors were migrated to this village hundreds of years ago from various parts of the present day Nepal.Hundreds of years ago, this village used to be a centre of business activities in the region due to its copper mining industry. But today, almost all members of the community are depending on agriculture which is based on traditional farming. Recently, going abroad, especially Gulf countries, has become a new trend for village youths, leaving their family behind, for an employment as unskilled labourer.Depending on season of the year, there are two ways of reaching to our village from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal:1. One and half hours flight from Kathmandu to Rukum Salle airport. Then, 6 hours Jeep ride from the airport to Ratwamarne. From here, the hike into Jhumlawang usually takes 3 hours climbing through Sima village and a bit of pine and other forests.2. Bus ride from Kathmandu takes up to 24 hours to Musikot Salle. From here, it applies what we have mentioned above. However, in the monsoon season (from end of June to October) it is most likely the Jeep road from Musikot Salle to Ratwamarne would be blocked from landslides. In that case, it takes up to 3 days trekking from the Salle Airport/ Bus station to Jhumlawang Village. The village is located in Morawang VDC Ward No 8 &9, Rukum district, Rapti zone of Mid-Western Nepal. The elevation of Jhumlawang village is about 2328 m (7633 ft.) but varies from 1600m to 3100m.".
