- Jean-Baptiste_Badeaux abstract "Jean-Baptiste Badeaux (29 April 1741 – 12 November 1796) was the ninth of ten children and lived with an aunt in Trois-Rivières. There, in 1767, Badeaux was given a commission as a notary. This was to be his vocation throughout his life.In 1781 Badeaux became a notary for the entire province of Quebec, due to, in large part, his during the conflict with the Americans in 1775-1776. After the conflict, he was involved in seeking restitution from the Americans for clients who had assisted them with goods and services. Although he was unsuccessful, his devotion was noticed and rewarded.In July 1790 he was appointed justice of the peace for the District of Trois-Rivières. He died after a long and serious illness and his abilities and character were publicly recognized in at least one Quebec newspaper. His son, Joseph, would become a member of the notarial profession as well.".
