- Félix_Uresti_Gómez abstract "Félix Uresti Gómez (Gómez Farías, Coahuila; July 1, 1887 — Carrizal, Chihuahua; June 21, 1916) was a soldier and Mexican revolutionary.His life was spent between Gomez Farias, Coahuila, where he was born, had his house and now his grave and San Salvador, Zacatecas, where his uncle Marcos Uresti and his grandfather Jeronimo Uresti lived. In this city he had his first school lessons, later he started to work in the mining industry. After that, he joined the revolt of Venustiano Carranza in 1913 against Victoriano Huerta under the orders of the General Matías Ramos Santos. Later he was awarded him with the General degree. In October 1914 the revolutionary movement suffered internal splits, but he remained faithful to the carrancista faction. In 1916 it was commissioned to repel the American forces commanded by General John J. Pershing that entered to Mexican territory looking for Francisco Villa, after Villa assaulted the population of Columbus, New Mexico. Uresti Gómez was in charge to avoid that the American troops could surpass the line fixed by the Mexican Government. Fulfilling these orders intimidated captains Boyd and Morey so that they desisted to advance, in this battle, happened in the small town of Carrizal (Battle of Carrizal), municipality of Ahumada, Chihuahua, Félix Uresti Gómez lost the life, by this fact later the government called him \"Hero of the Carrizal\". In the year 2016 it is the 100th anniversary of his death in defence of Mexico.".
