A group headed by Ryan purchased the Indians from Bill Veeck. In 1952, Ryan sold his share of the franchise to Myron H. Wilson.Following the sale of the Indians, Mr. Ryan was one of a group that purchased the Cleveland Browns in 1953. That group sold the Browns to Art Modell in 1961.Mr. Ryan was an insurance executive in Cleveland. His insurance agency was located in the same building as the Cleveland Arena. At one time, he was a part owner of the Cleveland Arena and the Cleveland Barons minor league hockey team (AHL).He died in 1966 at the age of 62 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.".
