- David_Stothard abstract "David Stothard (born 1937) is a former Canadian national soccer team player. Stothard was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was a member of Canada's first World Cup team in 1957 and also played 13 times for the British Columbia all-star team. He won a Canadian championship medal with Westminster Royals in 1955 and toured the Soviet Union with the Canadian national team in 1960. He helped the B.C. all-star team upset Tottenham Hotspur in Vancouver in 1957, and also played for the all-stars against Hearts, Aberdeen, Notts Forest, Admira Vienna, Sheffield United, Wolves and Leningrad Zenit. He was named \"Rookie of the Year\" in the Pacific Coast Soccer League in 1955 and received the Ed Bailey Memorial Trophy.
